FRCE safety program recognized as premier in Defense Department

The safety program at Fleet Readiness Center East (FRCE) has earned recognition for excellence at levels ranging from the state of North Carolina to the Chief of Naval Operations. Now, the depot is being acknowledged by the Department of Defense (DoD) as the best of the best in terms of safety and occupational health.

Assistant Secretary of Defense for Readiness Shawn G. Skelly presented FRCE with the DoD Safety and Occupational Health Management System (SOHMS) Achievement Award for organizations during an Aug. 23 ceremony in Washington, D.C.

FRCE Successfully Demonstrates Digital Tracking System Proof of Concept

An effort to streamline and modernize the way Fleet Readiness Center East (FRCE) tracks tools, assets and inventory recently hit an important milestone.  FRCE’s digital tracking team, composed of a wide range of subject matter experts from within the depot’s workforce, recently demonstrated a successful proof of concept for a digital tracking system the team spent nearly 24 months developing and testing. Proponents say the system could boost efficiency and accountability within the depot’s workforce.

Hyder Awarded 2021 Grampaw Pettibone Individual Award

Lt. Samuel T. Hyder, Safety Officer with Scientific Development Squadron (VXS) 1, was recently presented with the 2021 Grampaw Pettibone Individual Award. Hyder was presented the award Aug. 10 in the hangar at VXS-1 at Naval Air Station (NAS) Patuxent River, Maryland.

The Grampaw Pettibone Individual Award is presented by the Naval Safety Center (NAVSAFECEN) and recognizes individuals and organizations that contribute the most toward aviation safety through publications and media resources.

Fleet Readiness Center Southeast snags CNO’s Aviation Safety Award

If anything is clear about the Fleet Readiness Center Southeast (FRCSE) folks, it’s that they take safety seriously.

During fiscal year 2021 alone, the team hit a historical landmark by delivering 106 aircraft safely back to the Fleet while conducting a total of 319 flights, encompassing 580 flight hours of mishap-free flying.

Fleet Readiness Center Southeast hosts ceremony for graduating class of apprentices

A small group of family, friends and loved ones gathered on Aug. 4 in Naval Air Station Jacksonville’s ceremonial hangar to celebrate the achievements of Fleet Readiness Center Southeast’s (FRCSE) Trades Apprenticeship Program graduates for the first time in decades.

All five graduating apprentices have completed the painter discipline and were accepted into the program in 2019. Painting, one of seven Trades Apprenticeship concentrations, requires a three-year commitment from apprentices.

Fleet Readiness Center Southeast engineers support STEM by judging local science

A team of engineers from Fleet Readiness Center Southeast (FRCSE) recently volunteered to judge two local science fairs, Clay County Science Fair and Northeast Florida Regional Science and Engineering Fair.

An FRCSE team of volunteer judges, including Katie Holland, Elizabeth Nealin, Elijah Lamppin, Dylan Gobaton, Jason Mysliwiec, Justin Haslam, Conner Borgmeier, Stephanie Legg and Lawrence Phung, joined other local professionals from around the community to evaluate the contestants in a variety of STEM areas.

FRCSW First Depot to Tackle Super Hornet Service Life Modification

When the artisans, engineers and support staff of Fleet Readiness Center Southwest (FRCSW) inducted their final F/A-18 legacy (A-D model) Hornet fighter to undergo the Center Barrel Replacement (CBR) procedure last March, they probably thought they could take a break.

Not so.

Once again the command is at the maintenance forefront of the F/A-18 airframe, this time taking the lead as the only FRC currently assigned to perform the Service Life Modification (SLM) to the Super Hornet E and F variants.
