Navy receives production approval for next-generation air combat training system

The Naval Aviation Training Systems and Ranges program office (PMA-205) received Milestone C approval for its next-generation air combat training system, the Tactical Combat Training System Increment II (TCTS II) on April 27.

Approved by Program Executive Officer for Aviation Common Systems and Commercial Services (PEO(CS)), Gary Kurtz, Milestone C clears the way for the TCTS II program to transition into limited production with the support of industry partner, Collins Aerospace Systems (Collins), Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Navy celebrates delivery of 50,000 ARC-210 airborne radios to the fleet

The Navy celebrated the delivery of ARC-210 airborne radio number 50,000 to the fleet on 5 April.

The ARC-210 airborne radio is the most widely fielded tactical airborne radio in the world, operating on more than 200 platform variants worldwide in over 50 countries. The newest version of the radio brings the latest encryption and anti-jam technologies to the warfighter.

The Air Combat Electronics program office (PMA-209) effectively manages the ARC-210 program and celebrated this milestone with longtime industry partner Collins Aerospace, Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Air Combat Electronics program office hosted virtual event with The Open Group Consortia on open architecture advancement

The Air Combat Electronics program office (PMA-209) hosted a virtual event on 23 March with The Open Group Consortia Future Airborne Capability Environment (FACE) and Sensor Open System Architecture (SOSA) on Open Architecture as key to readiness and speed of capability to the warfighter.

Common Aviation Support Equipment program office holds virtual industry day

The Common Aviation Support Equipment program office (PMA-260) held a virtual industry day last month, in search of new and innovative ideas to support the future of the Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR) and PMA-260’s science and technology focus areas.

The program office held its industry day virtually to allow for increased participation across industry partners with current travel and health limitations due to COVID-19 in mind. More than 75 companies signed up to attend and approximately 150 non-government attendees signed on during the event.

Navy completes first flight of next-gen air combat training system on F/A-18 Super Hornet

The Naval Aviation Training System and Ranges program office (PMA-205) recently completed the first flight test of its next-generation air combat training system, the Tactical Combat Training System Increment II (TCTS II), on an F/A-18F at Naval Air Station Patuxent River, Md.  The second flight test, the first for this system involving two aircraft, followed in quick succession using two F/A-18E aircraft.

Navy completes testing next-gen air combat training system on F/A-18

The Naval Aviation Training System and Ranges program office (PMA-205) recently completed testing its next- generation air combat training system, the Tactical Combat Training System Increment II (TCTS II), on an F/A-18E/F Super Hornet at Naval Air Station Patuxent River.  

The latest series of tests, conducted by Air Test and Evaluation Squadron (VX) 23, are the culmination of innovative, strategic planning across multiple organizations working together with industry to complete this mission with urgency.

Air Combat Electronics program office welcomes new program manager

The Air Combat Electronics program office (PMA-209) welcomed a new program manager during a small ceremony held May 28 in Patuxent River.

Mr. Gary Kurtz, program executive officer, aviation common systems and commercial services (PEO(CS)) provided remarks and presided over the change of command and retirement ceremony in which Capt. Margaret Wilson assumed command of PMA-209 from Capt. Christopher McDowell. Immediate family and colleagues attending the ceremony donned masks and were dispersed six feet apart per the Centers for Disease Control guidelines.
