The training for operators and maintainers of the Navy’s E-6B Mercury fleet has launched into the 21st century thanks to new virtual 3D training systems provided by the Airborne Strategic Command, Control and Communications Program Office (PMA-271).

After leading the Naval Air Warfare Center Training Systems Division and Naval Support Activity Orlando for two years, Capt. Dan ‘Stuckey’ Covelli relinquished command on Thursday, June 15 during the Change of Command and retirement ceremony.
NAWCTSD Delivers E-2D Readiness Trainer
A team of Naval Air Warfare Center Training Systems Division (NAWCTSD) test engineers, systems engineers, and interoperability engineers recently delivered a new E-2D Distributed Readiness Trainer (D-DRT) to the fleet at Naval Air Station Point Mugu. The trainer will enable Naval Flight Officers (NFOs) to train with the same systems that are installed on fleet aircraft. In order to validate the trainer’s performance, the team conducted a mission evaluation with fleet weapons school and Naval Air Warfare Center Weapons Division (NAWCWD) Air Test and Evaluation Squadron (VX-30).

Emily Johnson of Naval Air Warfare Center Weapons Division received the 2022 G. Dennis White Early Career Human Systems Integration (HSI) Practitioner Award last week during a ceremony at Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren Division. Chairing the award's selection committee and providing opening remarks at the ceremony was NAWCTSD Chief Scientist, Dr. Jim Pharmer.
Naval Air Warfare Center changes command
Rear Adm. John E. Dougherty IV took command of Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division (NAWCAD), the largest warfare center in the Navy, from Rear Adm. John S. Lemmon during a ceremony at Naval Air Station Patuxent River, Aug. 12.
Vice Adm. Carl Chebi, commander of Naval Air Systems Command, presided over the ceremony.

NAWCTSD has decided to take a different approach by rewarding ideal behaviors and beliefs to lead to results. During the 19 May Awards Ceremony, CAPT Covelli honored seven individuals/ groups for displaying behaviors that will take NAWCTSD to the next level.
