STARBASE Central Florida graduates first classes, holds opening ceremonies

The Naval Air Warfare Center Training Systems Division Orlando celebrated the opening of a new Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) outreach effort on April 12, 2022.  

The Department of Defense’s own youth STEM program, DoD STARBASE, recently opened one of its newest locations in the Partnership III Building adjacent to Naval Support Activity Orlando. Officially established in September 2021, STARBASE Central Florida STEM Academy is the first Navy-sponsored STARBASE to open in more than ten years.  

Team Orlando Tech Grove is Official

The Team Orlando Tech Grove became official on September 17, 2020 when the first Collaborative Project Order (CPO#1) was issued toward the Partnership Intermediary Agreement (valued at $369,738) between the Naval Air Warfare Center Training Systems Division and the University of Central Florida Research Foundation (UCFRF).

The Tech Grove will open new avenues for collaboration between a wide range of businesses, entrepreneurs, innovators, academia and Team Orlando's military modeling and simulation commands.

Increase Agility – NAWCTSD Among Navy's First Naval-X Tech Bridges 

In the Navy’s effort to harness innovation Mr. James Geurts, assistant secretary of the Navy for Research, Development, and Acquisition announced on September 3 the Navy’s plan to expand the Department of the Navy’s (DON) collaboration capabilities rapidly. The Naval Air Warfare Center Training Systems Division (NAWCTSD) in Orlando will play a key role in this new effort.

 

NLDP graduate finds magic at Walt Disney World job rotation

NAVAL AIR WARFARE CENTER TRAINING SYSTEMS DIVISION, ORLANDO, Fla. — Karoly Qader spent six months at the “Happiest Place on Earth” and hopes to bring back some of that pixie dust to NAVAIR.

Qader, a recent graduate of the NAVAIR Leadership Development Program (NLDP) and a member of the Training Integrated Program Team on F-35 Lightning II, went on a job rotation with Walt Disney World’s Facilities and Operation Services (FOS) as part of an NLDP requirement.
