Simodejka awards recognize efforts to advance capability, increase readiness

The 22nd Annual Michael G. Simodejka Awards recognized sustainment, logistics and industrial operations team members from the Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division (NAWCAD) at a hybrid event hosted by NAWCAD Lakehurst Aug. 23.

The award ceremony honors Simodejka, the first civilian director of logistics for NAWCAD, and one of seven employees killed when their flight from Lakehurst to Patuxent River, Maryland crashed in August 2000.

Two Naval Test Wing Atlantic squadrons secure coveted safety award

The United States Naval Test Pilot School (USNTPS) and Air Test and Evaluation Squadron (HX) 21 received a Safety “S” for earning the 2020 Chief of Naval Operations (CNO) Aviation Safety Award, Nov. 3.

Vice Adm. Carl Chebi, Commander of the Naval Air Systems Command, presented the awards during back-to-back ceremonies at the respective squadrons on Nov. 3.

Advanced Naval Technology Exercise shines a light on the future of Naval Aviation

The Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division recently completed its third annual Advanced Naval Technology Exercise (ANTX), showcasing more than 20 emerging warfighter technologies at its Patuxent River headquarters.

ANTX, a series of demonstrations by Navy and Marine Corps organizations, displayed new technology in settings similar to real-life operational environments and assists senior leaders in assessing and prioritizing technologies.

Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division (NAWCAD) Lakehurst team members received recognition during the 2020 Naval Innovative Science & Engineering (NISE) Outstanding Project of the Year Awards April 7, for the successful technological advancement of the Integrated Launch and Recovery Television Surveillance (ILARTS) System.
