UAS Demo 2009 approaching
Patuxent River, Md. - The U.S. Navy's Program Executive Office, Unmanned Aviation and Strike Weapons (PEO[U&W]), and the Association for Unmanned Vehicle Systems International (AUVSI), will host the 5th Biennial Unmanned Systems Demonstration on Monday, 10 August 2009, at the Patuxent River Naval Air Station, Webster Field Annex in St. Inigoes, Md.
This event will feature live demonstrations of Unmanned Air Vehicles (UAVs) and Unmanned Ground Vehicles (UGVs) in an operational environment. Webster Field offers an exceptional opportunity to display and demonstrate full-scale UAV and UGV systems capabilities and hardware. Opening ceremonies will be conducted by Rear Admiral Bill Shannon, PEO(U&W), and Michael Toscano, AUVSI Executive Director, at 9 a.m., followed by a full day of live demonstrations.
More than 20 ground and air systems demonstrations are scheduled along with static displays promoting unmanned systems technology and capabilities. Scheduled participants include: AAI SHADOW 200, AeroVironment PUMA AE, Navy / MUDO AEROSTAR, Northrop Grumman FIRE SCOUT B, IAI HERON, Insitu SCAN EAGLE and INTEGRATOR, AAI Aerosonde Mk 4.4 &4.7, AAI / Aeronautics Orbiter, AFI HORNET Micro UAS, NASA J-FliC, L-3 BAI MOBIAS, Defense Technologies RANLO 1, GDRS T-2 and STRYKER CAT, iRobot 510, iRobot WARRIOR, iRobot SUGV 300 and Kairos Autonomi PRONTO4. Participation is subject to change.
In accordance with Section 3-206.b(4) of the Department of Defense Joint Ethics Regulation, 5500.7R, this event will be open to those organizations or individuals who have an interest in the technology and capabilities of unmanned aviation. Specifically, the following categories of attendees have been determined to have an interest in unmanned systems technology related to the Department of Defense and will be allowed to attend:
• Registered “full conference” attendees, students and exhibit personnel of AUVSI’s Unmanned Systems North America 2009;
• Military service members who are involved in unmanned systems technology;
• Civilian employees or contractor employees serving the Federal, State or Local Government who are involved in unmanned systems technology on behalf of the Federal, State or Local Government;
• Contractors that currently have contracts with the Department of Defense or which are actual or prospective bidders or offerors for contracts with the Department of Defense for unmanned systems technology related products or services;
• Employees of participating companies in the 5th Biennial Unmanned Systems Demonstration that will be working the demonstration.
