PMA-272 PM receives prestigious leadership award
NAVAL AIR SYSTEMS COMMAND, PATUXENT RIVER, Md. -- The program manager for Tactical Aircraft Protection Systems (PMA-272) here has been selected to receive the National Defense Industrial Association RADM Robert H. Gormley Leadership Award for his superior contributions to aircraft survivability.
Capt. William Chubb faced a particularly strong list of contenders but, in the end, he emerged the clear winner, said Roland P. Marquis, NDIA Combat Survivability Division awards committee chairman.
The Gormley award is named after the Rear. Adm. Robert H. Gormley, NDIA Combat Serviceability Division founder and former chairman. It is presented to a person who has made major contributions to enhancing combat survivability.
The individual selected must have demonstrated outstanding leadership in furthering combat survivability overall or played a significant role in a major aspect of survivability design, program management, research and development, modeling and simulation, test and evaluation, education or the development of standards. The emphasis of this award is on demonstrated leadership of a continuing nature.
“This is an honor for me and the folks I work with,” said Chubb. “I really appreciate the award. It is the product of the team and what they have done for me.”
Chubb was nominated for the award by PMA-272 and the Program Executive Officer for Tactical Aircraft Rear. Adm. W. Mark Skinner.
“PEO(T) is full of great leaders and teams, " said Skinner. "Captain Chubb has done a great job as program manager for PMA-272 and, under his guidance, the PMA continues to provide outstanding service to the Fleet,” said Skinner.
The RADM Robert H. Gormley Leadership Award will be presented to Chubb during NDIA’s Annual Aircraft Survivability Symposium Nov. 6 at the Navy Postgraduate School in Monterey, Calif.
Chubb has been the program manager for PMA-272 since October 2005.
