New Leadership Takes Helm of Air ASW Systems Program Office

Air Anti-Submarine Warfare Systems Program Office (PMA-264) Capt. Gregory Hinkle relieved Capt. Dennis Lloyd in a change of command ceremony on May 30 among family, friends, and co-workers.

The ceremony was presided over by Brig. Gen. David Walsh, program executive officer, Air, Anti-Submarine Warfare, Assault, and Special Mission Programs (PEO (A)).

Sonobuoy testing on heavy lift helicopters expands capabilities

Recent successful testing of hand-launched deployments of sonobuoys from a CH-53E Super Stallion have expanded the capabilities of the aircraft, providing increased flexibility for the U.S. Navy to support Anti-Submarine Warfare (ASW) in the joint environment. Similar testing will soon do the same for the CH-53K King Stallion.

The successful deployments of sonobuoys from a heavy lift helicopter showcases the aircraft’s flexibility and the changing payloads the aircraft will take on as the CH-53K replaces the CH-53E in the fleet.

PEO(A) Welcomes Walsh as New Lead; Kurtz Retires after 40 Years of Government Service

Program Executive Office, Air Anti-submarine Warfare, Assault, and Special Mission Programs (PEO(A)) welcomed its new program executive officer, Brig. Gen. David Walsh, in a change of command ceremony on June 27. Gary Kurtz, the outgoing PEO(A) executive officer, retired from government service after 40 years with Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR) and Naval Air Warfare Center, Aircraft Division (NAWCAD).

PEO(A) welcomes new leadership

Program Executive Office Air Anti-Submarine Warfare, Assault, and Special Mission Programs (PEO (A)) welcomed new leadership in a brief ceremony July 29 at the Pentagon.

Maj. Gen. Greg Masiello transferred leadership to Mr. Gary Kurtz with Mr. Tommy Ross, performing the duties of the assistant secretary of the Navy (ASN) research, development and acquisition (RDA) presiding over the event.

“I just want to say thank you for your leadership. Thank you for everything you've done for the Navy,” said Ross.

Capt. Dan Papp requested to go ashore for the last time in a retirement and change of command ceremony on June 2 surrounded by family, colleagues, and friends.

After three years as program manager for Air Anti-Submarine Warfare (ASW) Systems Program (PMA-264) and 27 years of dedicated service, Papp bid farewell to his colleagues and thanked his family with humble remarks as he welcomed new leadership, Capt. Dennis Lloyd.
