The Tactical Engineer Development Program held its annual graduation ceremony for the eighth cohort of the TEDP at Naval Air Warfare Center Weapons Division China Lake on May 19.

This year’s graduating class was comprised of 14 NAWCWD teammates from China Lake and Point Mugu.

The TEDP program is becoming more popular, but with that popularity it is becoming harder to be accepted to the program with only 14 available seats.

“Once again this year saw more applications than the course’s available 14 seats,” said Ian Anderson, TEDP Supervisor.

Naval Air Warfare Center Weapons Division held their spring Engineer and Scientist Development Program graduation ceremonies on April 11 and 13 in China Lake and Point Mugu, California.

ESDPs complete three to five years of rotational tours, mentoring, and a minimum of 300 hours of training in addition to training toward receiving their Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act Level 2 certification.

Naval Air Systems Command held their Journey Leadership Development Program and NAVAIR Leadership Development Program graduation ceremony on March 29.

“I applaud your commitment to your career, to the fleet and to NAVAIR,” said Vice Adm. Carl Chebi, NAVAIR commander. “You stepped up, put in the hard work, strengthened your leadership skills, forged new relationships, and most importantly you have learned.”

The Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division (NAWCAD) and Naval Air Warfare Center Warfare Division (NAWCWD) took home three of the coveted Department of the Navy (DON) Test and Evaluation (T&E) Awards for 2022.

More than 550 industry and government leaders in electronic warfare gathered for the 50^th Collaborative Electronic Warfare Symposium at Naval Base Ventura County, Point Mugu, California, March 14-16.

The in-person event is usually held annually, but it was put on hold during the COVID-19 pandemic. 

Sandra Scharn-Stevens of Naval Air Warfare Center Weapons Division China Lake and Wei-Li Young of NAWCWD Point Mugu, received Naval Air Systems Command’s Mentors of the Year Awards in a ceremony Jan. 24.

Scharn-Stevens is the deputy director for Procurement and has been with NAWCWD for 40 years. She has mentored dozens of professionals and she routinely takes time to provide mentoring opportunities. Scharn-Stevens was nominated by the Procurement group.

Six Naval Air Warfare Center Weapons Division employees graduated from Professional at all Levels: Step 3 (Leading Organizations) in China Lake on Jan. 11. This final step in the PaaL program consists of a small-group, strategic planning intensive followed by six months of coaching and completion of an organizational strategy.

Katherine McLaughlin, Tony Small, John Caufield, Ariana Shermer, Ron Pruitt, and Kimberley Couture received their certificates after completing all phases of the PaaL program and presenting their 3-5 year strategic plans to senior leaders in attendance.

Naval Air Warfare Center Weapons Division hosted the 2022 Naval Innovative Science and Engineering Technical Exchange Meeting September 21-22 in China Lake, California.

Called the NISE TEM for short, the event brings together scientists and engineers from the Navy’s warfare centers and laboratories for two days of collaboration focused around NISE-funded projects.

Naval Air Warfare Center Weapons Division inducted 14 more teammates into the Fellows Program in ceremonies July 12 and 13 in China Lake and Point Mugu, California.

The Fellows Awards were first launched in the 1980s and expanded to become a Naval Air Systems Command program in the 2000s. NAWCWD re-launched its program in 2021, after a three-year hiatus in Fellows inductions.

Rear Adm. Keith “Brownie” Hash relieved Rear Adm. Scott “Marshal” Dillon as Naval Air Warfare Center Weapons Division commander in a ceremony at Naval Air Weapons Station China Lake, California, on June 30.

Vice Adm. Carl Chebi, the ceremony’s guest speaker, highlighted Dillon’s 31 years of service, and also everything NAWCWD accomplished during the four years Dillon led the team.
