As part of a DON effort to combat the Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak, the iHub, along with the Naval Air Systems Command’s (NAVAIR) Additive Manufacturing (AM) Integrated Program Team and NAVAIR’s Additive Manufacturing Innovation Cell. produced 80 medical face shields this week in response to a Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Region VIII request.

Test Pilot School Passes Latest Aviation Maintenance Inspection

The U.S. Naval Test Pilot School (USNTPS) successfully passed its 2020 Aviation Maintenance Inspection (AMI), recently conducted over two weeks by a Commander Naval Air Forces (CNAF) Aviation Maintenance Management team.

AMI happens approximately every two years for each squadron in the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps to evaluate the effectiveness of the squadron's maintenance program practices and its adherence to Naval Aviation Maintenance Program standards. Maintenance is a critical component of command readiness.

2019 was a banner year for Air Test and Evaluation Squadron (VX) 20 honors: a test team that has been working hard to bring the E-2D Advanced Hawkeye airborne early warning aircraft to operational readiness has been recognized for their accomplishments with a NAWCAD Commander’s Team Award, and the squadron is the home of Naval Test Wing Atlantic’s 2019 Sailor of the Year and Test Naval Flight Officer of the Year as well.

Naval Test Wing Atlantic named Air Test and Evaluation Squadron (UX) 24 maintenance officer Trisha Rent as the 2019 Naval Test Wing Atlantic Harry R. Errington Maintenance Officer of the Year for what her commanding officer describes as her “’lead from the front’ work ethic and meticulous oversight” of a transition to a new maintenance contractor.
