NAWCAD recognizes top logisticians during annual Simodejka awards

The Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division (NAWCAD) recognized members of its sustainment, logistics and industrial operations workforce during a virtual ceremony Sept. 1 for their innovation and dedication to supporting the fleet.

Amanda Pilkerton, product support manager for the Maritime Patrol and Reconnaissance Aircraft program office, received the Michael G. Simodejka Outstanding Sustainment/Logistics Manager of the Year award. The NAWCAD Lakehurst Integrated Support Environment (ISE) Team received the Outstanding Sustainment/Logistics Team of the Year award.

NAWCAD Lakehurst supports NJ’s fight against COVID-19

Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division (NAWCAD) Lakehurst supplied more than 2,000 face shields to its military partners and the local community in Ocean County, New Jersey to help protect personnel from the novel Coronavirus (COVID-19).

Approximately 1,900 face shields were provided to the Ocean County Office of Emergency Management. Face shields were also provided to United States Naval Ship Comfort, the U.S. Air Force’s 305th Air Mobility Wing and 108th Wing stationed at JB MDL, and NAWCAD Lakehurst personnel.

NAWCAD Lakehurst 3D printing face shields for USNS Comfort

Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division (NAWCAD) Lakehurst is supplying 500 face shields to the USNS Comfort stationed in New York City to help the fight against COVID-19.

USNS Comfort requested additional face shields for its personnel while they relieve pressure on New York area hospitals.

The NAWCAD Lakehurst team worked through the weekend to manufacture and deliver the first run of 160 face shields. The team used its additive manufacturing process, which builds a 3D object from a computer-aided design model.

NAWCAD Lakehurst improving readiness, sustainment through expanded additive manufacturing facility

Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division (NAWCAD) Lakehurst is aiming to improve naval aviation readiness and sustainment through the growth of its advanced manufacturing capabilities, with the recent expansion of its Additive Manufacturing (AM) facility.

The AM team at Lakehurst acquired three new machines for their facility in 2019 to increase production capacity and speed in support of NAWCAD’s headquarter command, the Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR).

NAWCAD Lakehurst spreads holiday cheer through annual toy drive

Sailors and Navy civilians from the Lakehurst side of Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst recently donated toys to low-income families as part of the 44th Annual Navy Lakehurst Giving Tree program.

Approximately 200 children ages three-five from the Brick, Manchester and Toms River Head Start Centers in Ocean County, New Jersey, received a toy from their holiday wish list donated by volunteers from the Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division (NAWCAD) Lakehurst.

NAWCAD Lakehurst, small businesses talk opportunities at industry day

Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division (NAWCAD) Lakehurst joined more than 150 members of small business for the fifth annual Lakehurst Small Business Roundtable Industry Day Oct. 30 at the Ocean County Library in Toms River, New Jersey.

The industry day focused on opportunities in Support Equipment (SE) and Aircraft Launch and Recovery Equipment (ALRE), which are managed by a team at NAWCAD Lakehurst to assure that fixed and rotary wing aircraft operate safely and effectively from aircraft carriers, air capable ships and expeditionary airfields worldwide.

Team Leader of the Year brings speed to support equipment needs
