Navy conducts planned, routine training events at Moffett Federal Airfield
The Navy is conducting planned, routine training missions using contracted air support F-5 aircraft out of Moffett Federal Airfield (Moffett) in Santa Clara County, Calif. until mid-March.
The F-5 aircraft, a small, unarmed jet aircraft, is supporting a Navy training unit located at NAS Lemoore. The aircraft are participating in standard training for local military units and have historically operated out of Moffett due to its proximity to training ranges used by the Navy. Because the F-5s are currently located near San Jose International Airport, their required flight path may impact residents in the Los Gatos and Sunnyvale, Calif. areas.
This training will include flights across the Bay Area until mid-March, which may increase noise disturbance in that area but will end no later than 6 p.m. and begin no earlier than 7:40 a.m to reduce disturbance.
