The Helicopter Rescue Hoist Trainer is used to train aircrew in helicopter rescue procedures.  It also familiarizes aircrew in the recommended procedures and safety precautions in a water rescue by one of several different rescue devices lowered from a hovering helicopter. The rotor downwash assembly, its associated piping, pump and controls are used to simulate helicopter downwash in actual rescue operations. The device is designed to be weatherproof and intended for permanent installation at the side of either an indoor or outdoor swimming pool. There are a total of eight helicopter rescue hoist devices currently in operation. All eight have a planned refresh date in FY20/FY21.
