Logistics and Industrial Operations (AIR 6.0) customers contracting aviation platform-level contract logistics support (CLS) will now find it easier to select industry partners thanks to a 10-year, $12.6 billion multiple award contract (MAC) awarded Jan. 31.

Trust, accountability and a shared vision among team members are foundational to providing capabilities to the fleet. That’s according to Integrated Product Team Lead (IPT) for Naval Aviation Spares and Requirements Financial Manager (RFM) Cmdr. Lesley Donelson, and Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR) F/A-18 and EA-18G Program Office (PMA-265) Product Support Team Lead Kimberly Priest. Both Donelson and Priest were named the 2018 Daniel L. Nega Excellence in Logistics Leadership Award recipients at Naval Air Station Patuxent River, Maryland, Nov. 9 and Nov. 19, respectively.

Tracy Hurtt was surprised by her first few months as a civilian. Before retiring as a sergeant first class in 2013, her whole life had revolved around the military, first as a family member then as a soldier.

“I struggled with not belonging to something that was bigger than I was,” she said about her retirement. “I wanted to continue to serve.”

A Logistics and Industrial Operation Sailor was named the 2018 Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR) Headquarters Senior Sailor of the Year Nov. 16. 

A Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR) Logistics and Industrial Operations Naval Acquisition Development Program (NADP) intern was one of 140 Department of Defense students who recently graduated from the Defense Civilian Emerging Leader Program (DCELP).

A Naval Air Technical Data and Engineering Service Command (NATEC) officer who mentors 99 people recently received the Naval Air Systems Command Logistics and Industrial Operations (AIR 6.0) Mentor of the Year Award.  The recognition was created in January 2018 to recognize AIR 6.0 Sailors, Marines and civilians who serve as mentors for their contribution to the workforce.

Learning how to write meaningful Executive Core Qualifications (ECQs) is key to being accepted into the Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR) Leadership Program.  Martin Ahmad, deputy commander, Fleet Readiness Centers (FRC) hosted a workshop Aug. 9 at Patuxent River to provide guidance and tips.

Recent delivery of 15 T-6B Texan II dorsal assembly ribs in a matter of weeks is an example of how quickly stakeholders can increase readiness through collaboration and innovation.

“With additive manufacturing (AM), the fleet can now get the parts in a matter of hours in addition to having an additional source of production,” said Chief of Naval Air Training (CNATRA) Assistant Chief of Staff for Aircraft Readiness Capt. Thomas Gibbons. “Establishing this capability locally could also potentially save us effort and cost.”
