Three PEO(A) Programs Recognized as Acquisition Excellence Award Winners

Each year the Department of War (DOW) recognizes exceptional acquisition professionals from the prior year. During the 2025 acquisition year, three Program Executive Office, Air, Anti-submarine Warfare, Assault, and Special Mission Programs (PEO(A)) teams and individuals were winners during the Feb. 18 ceremony held at the Pentagon.

In June 2025, the Presidential Helicopters Program Office (PMA-274) delivered and installed a retired and refurbished VH-3D helicopter, bureau number 159351 (BUNO 351), to the United States Secret Service (USSS). The agency received the aircraft at the James J. Rowley Training Center (JJRTC) in South Laurel, Maryland, fulfilling its need for a new training aircraft to continue effectively training its agents.  

PEO(A) Takes Home Four Commanders Awards

Four teams across three Air, Anti-submarine Warfare, Assault, and Special Mission (PEO(A)) programs were awarded highest Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR) honors during the annual NAVAIR Commanders Award ceremony held June 4. 

In a message to the NAVAIR community, Vice Adm. Carl Chebi, Commander, NAVAIR stated “Our award winners rose to the top from a remarkable pool of 129 exceptional nominees, all of whom demonstrated the mindset, behaviors and commitment that drive our mission forward—delivering the warfighting capability our fleet needs, at a cost we can afford.” 

Marine Corps association awards five PEO(A) teammates highest honors

The Marine Corps Aviation Association (MCAA) MCAA recognized five winners from the Program Executive Office, Air, Anti-Submarine Warfare, Assault, and Special Mission Programs (PEO (A)) for their achievements at its annual awards banquet April 17 at The White Rose, Callaway, Md.

The MCAA John Glenn Squadron holds a yearly recognition of top civilian and military performers within the Marine Corps acquisition community for the prior calendar year.

PEO(A) honored with six 2024 Acquisition Excellence Awards

In a ceremony held at the Pentagon, six Program Executive Office, Air, Anti-Submarine Warfare, and Special Mission Programs (PEO(A)) were recognized by the annual Department of the Navy Acquisition Excellence Awards committee.  

The newly named Sean J. Stackley Acquisition Excellence Awards recognizes teams and individuals across the Department of the Navy (DON) for quality work and service that contributes to the Navy and Marine Corps. 

Retired Marine One Finds Permanent Home at Presidential Library and Museum

A retired, de-militarized, and restored VH-3D Marine One was officially inducted into the George H. W. Bush Presidential Library and Museum, College Station, Texas in June 2024. The library and museum, located within the Texas A&M University campus, welcomed Presidential Helicopters Program Office (PMA-274) members, Bush family members, donors, and supporters to the grand opening of a new pavilion that now houses the retired Marine One.

Two PEO(A) civilians recognized at annual MCAA event

Two program executive officer air, anti-submarine warfare, and special mission program (PEO(A)) civilians were recognized in a 25 April ceremony for the annual Marine Corps Aviation Association (MCAA) John Glenn Squadron Marine Aviation Acquisition Awards.  These prestigious awards recognize those individuals who have distinguished themselves as the best in Marine Aviation Acquisition during the award period from 1 January 2023 to 31 December 2023.

Presidential Helicopters Program Office changes command

The Presidential Helicopters Program Office (PMA-274) welcomed their eighth program manager during a change of command ceremony on Sept. 28.

Col. Alex Ramthun took over command from Col. Eric Ropella. The ceremony, in keeping with tradition, honored both outgoing and incoming leadership while the guest of honor, Assistant Deputy Commandant for Information Maj. Gen. Greg Masiello, provided the ceremony’s official remarks.
