NAWCAD Lakehurst improves production time, safety with robotic welder

Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division (NAWCAD) Lakehurst is reducing production time and costs, while increasing readiness and the safety of its welding artisans by using a new robotic welder.

NAWCAD Lakehurst’s Prototyping and Manufacturing Division (PMD) implemented a robotic welder in February for its overhaul of Improved Low Loss Launch Valve (ILLLV) bodies, part of the steam catapult system on aircraft carriers.

Professional Development Group celebrates alumni achievements

The Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division (NAWCAD) Lakehurst recognized alumni of its Professional Development Group (PDG) for their commitment to helping new employees acclimate to the workforce during a ceremony here June 27.

The PDG started at NAWCAD Lakehurst in 2001 to bring all new science and engineering hires together into one cohesive peer network that could provide support and opportunities for professional growth.

New Jersey Institute of Technology names NAWCAD Lakehurst ‘Employer of the Year’

Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division (NAWCAD) Lakehurst received the Top Full Time Employer of the Year Award from the New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) during an awards ceremony at its Newark, New Jersey, campus April 2.

NAWCAD Lakehurst, under the Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR), was recognized for its dedication to recruiting graduates from NJIT, and providing challenging engineering work and mentorship to its students.

NAWCAD Lakehurst supports student underwater robotics competition

The U.S. Navy joined more than 40 middle and high school teams from across New Jersey for a day of underwater robotics during the 7th Annual NJ Regional SeaPerch competition at Rowan University in Glassboro, New Jersey March 9.

SeaPerch is a Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) program coordinated by the Office of Naval Research, which challenges students to construct and compete an underwater Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV), more commonly known as a robot.
