When Nikki Gill began her career at Fleet Readiness Center East 14 years ago, she never planned on being a supervisor. After several years doing technical work as a production support engineer, however, a management opportunity arose within the depot’s Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) Engineering Department – and Gill felt ready to take on a new challenge.
Fleet Readiness Center East (FRCE) wrapped up a successful process improvement project which enhanced the depot’s ability to deliver parts, components, and aircraft to the warfighter.
With the aid of data visualization tools, supervisors and machinists within the command’s Repair Machine Shop successfully reduced the turnaround time for parts and components coming out of the shop.
Based on the recommendation from the V-22 Joint Program Office, the U.S. Marine Corps, U.S. Air Force Special Operations Command and U.S. Navy issued a time limit, via fleet bulletin, on the V-22 Input Quill Assembly, effective Feb. 3, 2023.
The imposed time limit will restrict flight on a subset of V-22s until the Input Quill Assembly is replaced. The Input Quill Assembly is an element of the proprotor gearbox, which houses the aircraft clutch.
This recommendation is based on a progressive increase in Hard Clutch Engagement events and ongoing engineering analysis.

Fleet Readiness Center East’s (FRCE) Bearing Shop is a place where success or failure can be measured in thousandths of inch. In this shop, bearings are inspected, measured and analyzed with a painstaking attention to detail by a small team of highly trained professionals.
These artisans refurbish hundreds of bearings each week, turning out several thousand each month. The Bearing Shop handles nearly 5,000 different part numbers. These bearings are used on vehicles that operate in the air, on land, and at sea.
