In a landmark achievement that aligns directly with the 2025 National Defense Strategy's call for a modernized and lethal Joint Force, Fleet Readiness Center Southwest (FRCSW) has successfully adopted a transformative approach to upgrades on the F/A-18 Super Hornet; a critical milestone in the continuous capability enhancements for the Super Hornet.
Fleet Readiness Center Southwest’s (FRCSW) mission is to maintain the operational readiness of advanced aircraft like the CMV-22 Osprey. The command provides crucial support to the men and women of the Navy and Marine Corps allowing them to deliver the lethality necessary to defeat any foe. Recently, the FRCSW Props team achieved a significant milestone by reducing the Planned Maintenance Interval (PMI) cycle for the most recent CMV-22 inducted from 264 days to under 200 days - a reduction of more than 24%.

Fleet Readiness Center Southwest has been serving the United States military for more than 105 years and thus is the Birthplace of Naval Aviation maintenance. Early years of Naval aviation included a variety of different types of planes including lighter-than-air “air-ships”. Blimps were a part of the Navy arsenal for more than 40 years and just like today FRCSW personnel were here to keep them flying. Here we see the precursor to NASNIs modern day Bldg 472. Hangar 17 (the Dirigible or Balloon Hangar) was dedicated on 13 April 1919 and stood for over 50 years.

Established in 1919, Fleet Readiness Center Southwest (FRCSW) personnel have been the Backbone of Readiness for more than 105 years. Here we see three aircraft carriers docked at NAS North Island in 1975. The USS Hancock, USS Constellation and USS Kitty Hawk all served with designation and their aircraft would not have been able to keep flying without the knowledge and effort of FRCSW employees.
