Ian Hawkins, a Fleet Readiness Center Southeast (FRCSE) materials engineering supervisor, was recently accepted into the Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR) Fellow Program coordinated by Naval Air Warfare Center Weapons Division’s (NAWCAD) during an award ceremony held at NAVAIR headquarters in Pawtuxet River, MD.

Fleet Readiness Center Southeast (FRCSE) achieved two significant milestones in the same week by inducting its first F-35B Lightning II and F135 power module (PM), one of five major modules of the F-35 propulsion system.

The F-35B, which came from the Flying Leathernecks of Marine Fighter Attack Squadron 122 (VMFA-122), based out of Yuma, Arizona, arrived at FRCSE on Aug. 7 and the F135 PM on Aug. 9.  

Forty-five apprentices with Fleet Readiness Center Southeast's (FRCSE) Trades Apprenticeship Program walked the stage to accept their journeyman-level certificate during a ceremony on Friday, July 12.

More than 250 family members, friends and FRCSE personnel gathered to honor the graduates and recognize their achievements.

A room brimming with mentors, mentees and supporters was a telling sight – indicative of the impact that the 2023 Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR) and Dora Quinlan Mentor of the Year Award winners have had on the Fleet Readiness Center Southeast (FRCSE) workforce.

The Aviation Maintenance Advancement Solutions (AMAS) production and logistics team, one of the many Fleet Support Teams (FST) assigned to Fleet Readiness Center Southeast (FRCSE), was recently recognized as the Common Aviation Support Equipment Program Office (PMA-260) Team of the Year. It’s the first time that an FRCSE FST has received the accolade. 

Recently, artisans assigned to the Fleet Readiness Center Southeast (FRCSE) F-5 Production Line propelled the organization into the next generation of industrial aviation maintenance with the single pull of an electrical discharge machining (EDM) trigger.

Fleet Readiness Center Southeast (FRCSE) was a key contributor to surpassing the Naval Aviation Enterprise (NAE) F414 Engine Readiness Goal (ERG) of 1,451 ready-for-issue (RFI) engines for the first time since 2018 – eight months ahead of the planned recovery schedule. The achievement was a joint effort between FRCSE, the F/A-18 and EA-18G Program Office (PMA-265), Naval Supply Systems Command, Defense Logistics Agency, General Electric and other organizations that helped hit the goal.  

At a ribbon-cutting ceremony aboard Naval Air Station Jacksonville on Monday, Oct. 16, Fleet Readiness Center Southeast (FRCSE) opened a new facility expected to usher in next-generation avionics excellence.

Fleet Readiness Center Southeast (FRCSE) inducted its first F135 Power Module (PM) Aug. 24, one of the five major modules that make up the propulsion system on the F-35 Lightning II Joint Strike Fighter. 

After being designated as a Department of Defense second depot source of repair (DSOR) for the F135 engine, FRCSE quickly began planning for the arrival of its first PM and future sustainment as a second DSOR.  

Whether it is due to its all-weather versatility and reliability, or its run with the renowned flight demonstration team, the U.S. Navy Blue Angels, the F/A-18 Hornet has been a combat-proven platform for the Navy and Marine Corps for many years.
