Navy delivers final normobaric hypoxia training device

The Naval Aviation Training Systems and Ranges program office’s (PMA-205) Naval Aviation Survival Training Program (NASTP) installed the eighth and final hypoxia trainer at the Aviation Survival Training Center (ASTC) located at Whidbey Island, Wash., this month.  

The NASTP installed the Normobaric Hypoxia Trainer (NHT) in eight locations across the Naval Aviation Enterprise, providing fixed-wing, non-ejection seat aircrew the opportunity to experience hypoxia in a safe and technologically relevant environment.

Navy promotes necessity of integrated training at the I/ITSEC conference

Approximately 13,000 participants from nearly 50 countries came together to make the annual Interservice/Industry Training, Simulation, and Education Conference (I/ITSEC) 2021 an informative experience with a full schedule of sessions, 400 exhibiting organizations and the latest in training innovation in Nov. 2021.  

Navy replacing and upgrading underwater training range sites, advancing training capability

The Navy’s Naval Aviation Training Systems and Ranges program office (PMA-205) is advancing increments II and III of the Undersea Warfare Training Ranges (USWTR), upgrading and expanding the capability of the training ranges.

In increment I, the USWTR team managed the installation of the ocean sensor and shore electronics subsystems located off the coast of Florida. Under Increments II and III, the Navy is upgrading previously installed systems at the USWTR’s other range locations in areas of the Pacific and Caribbean oceans.

Navy conducts inaugural training exercise using new next-gen air combat training system

The Navy's Naval Aviation Training Systems and Ranges program office’s (PMA-205) Tactical Combat Training System Increment II (TCTS Inc. II) and Advanced Naval Technology Exercise (ANTX)-21 teams conducted their first Live-Virtual-Constructive (LVC) demonstration in an operational environment last month. As part of the Navy’s broader initiative to enhance capability, the event displayed early LVC capability for the TCTS Inc. II system and included many “firsts” in naval aviation training.

Navy receives production approval for next-generation air combat training system

The Naval Aviation Training Systems and Ranges program office (PMA-205) received Milestone C approval for its next-generation air combat training system, the Tactical Combat Training System Increment II (TCTS II) on April 27.

Approved by Program Executive Officer for Aviation Common Systems and Commercial Services (PEO(CS)), Gary Kurtz, Milestone C clears the way for the TCTS II program to transition into limited production with the support of industry partner, Collins Aerospace Systems (Collins), Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Navy awards logistics support contract for advanced helicopter training program

The U.S. Navy awarded Vertex Aerospace, LLC (Vertex) a contract for $71,374,880 on March 2 for the base year for the Contractor Logistics and Maintenance Support (CLS) in support of the Advanced Helicopter Training System (AHTS) program, with six options for a total contract value of more than $471 million.
