Tactical Resupply UAS ready for the fleet

The Navy and Marine Corps announced Initial Operational Capability (IOC) for the TRV-150C Tactical Resupply Unmanned Aircraft System (TRUAS) Oct. 27 at Marine Corps Base Hawaii.

The first six production systems arrived last week at the Marines Third Littoral Logistics Battalion (LLB-3) in Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii, which means that LLB-3 is sufficiently manned, trained and ready to deploy with the TRV-150C.

Small Tactical UAS program office welcomes new leadership

A new program manager stepped into command for the Navy and Marine Corps Small Tactical Unmanned Aircraft Systems program office (PMA-263) during a change of command ceremony Sept. 21 at Naval Air Warfare Center Webster Outlying Field, St. Inigoes, Maryland.

During the ceremony overlooking the St. Mary’s River at Unmanned Test and Evaluation Squadron (UX) 24, Gregg Skinner took over command from Col. Victor Argobright, who will retire after 29 years of military service.  

Charles named Marine Corps acquisition officer of the year

The Marine Corps Aviation Association (MCAA) John Glenn Squadron presented Maj. David Charles with the Lieutenant General Michael A. Hough Acquisition Officer of the Year award at its annual banquet April 27 in Callaway, Maryland.

The association recognized Charles for his exceptional leadership of the Unmanned Logistics Systems - Air (ULS-A) Medium and Tactical Resupply Unmanned Aircraft System (TRUAS) efforts while serving as the ULS-A military integrated product team lead for the Navy and Marine Corps Small Tactical Unmanned Aircraft Systems Program Office (PMA-263).

Navy demos wide range of VTOL systems for future operations

The Navy and Marine Corps Small Tactical Unmanned Aircraft Systems (PMA-263) program team put Vertical Takeoff and Landing (VTOL) systems through their paces during a two-week technical demonstration in mid-September.

More than a dozen vendors attended the event to help inform the Navy Expeditionary Warfare community of the functions and capabilities available on the commercial market. The VTOL systems represented a wide range of configurations including outdoor, indoor, hybrid VTOL/fixed wing, and tethered flight capability.

Navy opens doors to first small unmanned aircraft systems training facility

The Navy opened a new facility at Joint Expeditionary Base (JEB) Little Creek-Fort Story in Virginia Beach, Virginia July 27 that's dedicated to training Sailors who will operate the service's Family of Small Unmanned Aircraft Systems (FoSUAS).

The facility, known as Training and Logistics Support Activity (TALSA) East, is the first dedicated Navy facility for unmanned aircraft operators to complete SUAS training.

U.S. Navy holds UAS wide-area mission demonstration

The Navy recently completed an Unmanned Aircraft System (UAS) wide-area mission demonstration to assess capabilities that could benefit the fleet in the future.

The Navy and Marine Corps Small Tactical UAS program office (PMA-263), Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division (NAWCAD) AIRWorks, and Navy Warfare Development Command (NWDC) led the sea-based demonstration July 11-15 aboard USS Paul Hamilton (DDG-60) in San Diego.

Navy program manager shares new vision for procurement of small, unmanned aircraft systems

Col. Victor Argobright, Navy and Marine Corps Small Tactical Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) program office (PMA-263) program manager, shared a new vision for small UAS procurement and employment during the Navy League’s Sea-Air-Space Symposium, April 4.

During his presentation, Argobright highlighted the program’s vision ─ rapidly deploy systems that are modular, have open architecture, advanced sensors and payloads, and improve autonomy.
