PMA-209 marks new chapter with change of command

The Air Combat Electronics Program Office (PMA-209) celebrated a milestone May 21 as Capt. Jarrod Hair handed over command to Capt. Rob Smith and retired after over 25 years of Navy service.

Since taking command in June 2023, Hair has guided the PMA-209 team through a time of significant progress and innovation. Under his leadership, the team achieved several important acquisition milestones, delivering key capabilities to the Navy and Marine Corps.

Advancing the fight: TCTS II elevates Air Wing Fallon training

The Navy achieved a major milestone at Naval Air Station Fallon when F/A-18E/F Super Hornets from Carrier Air Wing (CVW) 11 flew training sorties equipped with the new Tactical Combat Training System, Increment II (TCTS II), for the first time in January.

Developed by Naval Aviation Training Systems and Ranges (PMA-205), TCTS II provides a seamlessly integrated Live, Virtual, Constructive (LVC) training environment, enhancing security and capability by replicating combat conditions and allowing crews to rehearse complex, distributed operations.

AV-8B II+ not forgotten — purposefully placed

Two retired AV-8B Harrier II+ have made their final move, not to a storage yard, but to a classroom. On March 3-4, aircraft parts, support equipment and two Harrier wings departed Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point, North Carolina, and were delivered to the newly stood up Center of Excellence for Corrosion and Finish (CoECF) in Chesapeake, Virginia, where they will serve as hands-on training for the next generation of naval aviation corrosion technicians.

Speeding Up Delivery With Industry Help: NAVAIR Panelists Open Sea-Air-Space 2026

A distinguished panel of experts spoke about current Navy acquisition challenges, readiness, future force development, operational strength, speed to fleet and workforce excellence at the NAVAIR booth on opening day of the Sea-Air-Space Exposition 2026, at the Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center, hosted by the Navy League.

PMA-226 strengthens alliance by returning historic helicopter to service

In a powerful demonstration of its commitment to international partners, the Adversary and Specialized Aircraft Program Office (PMA-226) has successfully returned a historically significant VH-3A Sea King to the skies for the Egyptian Air Force. The project, completed in February, modernizes a key aviation asset and reinforces a strategic partnership built on decades of cooperation.

Teams complete first F-16 sustainment repair ahead of schedule

The Adversary and Specialized Aircraft Program Office (PMA-226) and Fleet Readiness Center Southwest (FRCSW) have exceeded expectations by completing the first-ever Programmed Structural Sustainment Repair (PSSR) on a U.S. Navy F-16C Viper this month, delivering the aircraft eight months early.

This milestone marks a historic win for both organizations, showcasing their ability to deliver critical capabilities to the fleet with unprecedented speed and precision.
