Navy Lakehurst partners with NJ State Troopers
September 26, 2006, Lakehurst, NJ – Law enforcement agencies from throughout the State of New Jersey came to Lakehurst on Monday, September 25th to do a series of public awareness photographs to promote safe driving throughout New Jersey. Chief Tom Lucas of the Bergenfield Police and Lieutenant Harry Vliet of the New Jersey State Police approached Lakehurst with an idea to photograph a Navy F-18 being stopped for “excessive speed” by their officers as a novel and humorous way to demonstrate that both State Law Enforcement Agencies and the Navy are serious about safe driving.
CAPTION:
Lakehurst’s Air Ops Officer, LCDR Eric Nanartowich as the pilot , and a static F-18 from Lakehurst’s test facilities, along with various police cars and motorcycle units simulated the “speeding” violation numerous times. The photos are planned to be used in a statewide safety publicity campaign scheduled to begin in the next few months.
