NAWCWD launches new weapon in communication

Archived Body

Whether it is a new iPod, Blackberry or iPhone, the Naval Air Warfare Center Weapons Division is making it easier to connect with the WD experts by renovating the official WD Web site. The site is aimed at reaching potential employees, educating the public and keeping the current workforce informed on WD’s role of arming the Navy and Marine Corps warriors with weapons that work.

Bookmark the improved site located at http://www.nawcwd.navy.mil. With just a few clicks of a button, anyone can find a list of job openings, news releases, and information about doing business with WD. Online surfers can quickly navigate the site to find the bit of information they need, or spend hours learning what the 1.1 million acres encompasses including the world’s largest and most diverse test range.

From its beginning in 1943, NAWCWD has contributed and continues this tradition of supporting the warfighter to maintain battlespace dominance and the global war on terrorism. Also included are links to local community on topics such as schools, recreational activities and nearby excursions. A list of essential phone numbers is also provided for those new to WD.

If a picture is worth a thousand words, check out the revamped visual section containing images of military aircraft and weapons tested at WD, as well as scenes of China Lake and Point Mugu landscapes.

Lastly, take advantage of the recently established toll-free phone number (1-866-493-9699). Callers may choose from six options to get a direct connection with an expert on BRAC (1), job opportunities, hiring and relocation (2), Navy ERP (3), base access (4), and base tours and recreational activities (5), to leave a message (6) or during normal working hours connect with the base operator (0).

“We are using easy and convenient tools to improve communication with potential employees, visitors, and our numerous partners,” said Doris Lance, NAWCWD spokesperson. “We have chosen to use the Internet and this toll-free telephone number to make it easy for anyone to reach the Weapons Division and get the information they want.”
