NAVAIR site instructors are being trained to provide the NAVAIR workforce with the skills, knowledge and materials they will need to successfully use the Navy’s Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system. NAVAIR transitions from Sigma to the Navy-wide system Oct. 1.

“Train the Trainer is a knowledge-transfer event,” said Cdr. Joseph Osazuwa, of Navy ERP Global Implementation Team. “A select group of NAVAIR personnel will become instructors, so it’s a great opportunity for these in-house instructors to ask savvy Navy ERP instructors questions about the system. They will be able to experience the look and feel of system.”

“By training our personnel to serve as in-house instructors, we will be able to relate Sigma, which is our older version of SAP’s ERP system, to the new Navy-wide system,” said Jennifer Blake, of NAVAIR headquarters site implementation team. “We will be able to explain how to use the system in our work every day.”

Navy ERP training will take two forms.

All personnel must complete Web-based training to learn basic Navy ERP functions, such as how to complete time and attendance and how to register for professional development courses. This training will reflect how the Navy ERP differs from Sigma.

Personnel who use advanced functions of the ERP system, such as comptrollers, program managers, and business/financial managers, will take additional classroom training tailored for their jobs.

This advanced classroom training includes concepts, work instructions, exercises, simulations, demonstrations and Navy ERP system functionality. Site instructors will also learn how to use the Navy ERP training materials and curriculum, and prepare to teach NAVAIR personnel.

Site instructors have been preparing for Train the Trainer by completing 13 pre-requisite online courses.
