During the week of June 10-14, the Naval Aviation Depot will conduct an experiment to determine if its work shift times can be changed. This test is an effort to bring start times closer together to reduce inefficiencies caused by staggered start times and to move closer to current depot-union contract terms.

Currently, the depot’s first shift start times are staggered at 0630, 0730, and 0800. The proposed new start times will be 0630, 0700, and 0730. Those currently starting at 0630 will continue to start at 0630, those currently starting at 0730 will start at 0700, and those currently starting at 0800 will start at 0730.

Hours for the second shift will be 1515-2330 for International Association of Machinists & Aerospace Workers Local 1859 and 1530-2345 for Local 2297.

Hours for the third shift will be 2300-0700 for Local 2297 and 2315-0715 for Local 1859.

The command will observe and evaluate the success of the experiment, which has been coordinated with the unions, Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point, and Havelock Police Department. If excessive delays are encountered, the experiment will be terminated, and workers will return to their current shift start times.

Prior to the end of the week of June10-14, the command will make an announcement about the continuation of the new start times.
