PATUXENT RIVER NAVAL AIR STATION, MD—The Naval Civilian Managers Association, a management organization of senior civilians in naval activities, will host a Patuxent River chapter organizing luncheon here Oct. 16 at 11:30 a.m. in the Cedar Point Officers’ Club.

Members of the NCMA National Board of Directors, including NCMA National President Warren Kennedy, will be on hand to talk about the organization, new chapter development and creating a chapter here.

The 600 NCMA members are dedicated to the principle that the interests of this country can best be served by a strong Navy. These NCMA members are senior civilian managers who occupy positions of leadership and have banded together to help resolve today’s challenges for both the Navy and the communities in which they live.

Some of the objectives of NCMA include fostering cooperative relations with military and civilian leaders, the community and other organizations; developing cooperative relationships among managers at activities who frequently have different organizational objectives; assisting in policy decisions at all levels of the Navy; and executing a leadership role to effect change.

Local chapters of NCMA provide the framework for the naval civilian community to share experiences and knowledge, to become better acquainted, and to cooperate for the common good. NCMA chapters include NAVAIR Lakehurst, Supervisor of Shipbuilding, Portsmouth, Va., Portsmouth Naval Shipyard, Kettery, Maine, Puget Sound Naval Shipyard, Bremerton, Wash., Norfolk Naval Shipyard, Portsmouth, Va., Fleet Technical Support Center Atlantic, Norfolk, Va., and San Diego Chapter, San Diego.

All GS-13s and above civilian managers are welcome to attend. For more information on the event, contact Dr. Asha Varma, 301-342-2344 or Clifford Elder, 732-323-7812. For more information on NCMA, visit the organization’s Web site at http://www.ncmanational.org.
