Memorial Service for Columbia Astronauts

NAVAIR Patuxent River employees and the local community are invited to a memorial service Feb. 7 at 2 p.m. for the seven astronauts killed Saturday in the Columbia space shuttle disaster. Visitors are asked to come in Gate 1 at Pegg Road to be directed to the U.S. Naval Test Pilot School hangar, Building 110. Navy CDR William C. McCool was a U.S. Naval Test Pilot School graduate and Navy CAPT David M. Brown was a flight surgeon at the school. Both were aboard the lost shuttle. U.S. Sen. Paul Sarbanes (D-Md.) and U.S. Rep. Steny Hoyer (D-5th District) will speak at the memorial service. Attendees are strongly encouraged to carpool.
