NAVAIR Depot Jacksonville military recognized

On January 7, 2003, Commanding Officer (CO) Capt. Karl E. Yeakel, Naval Air (NAVAIR) Depot Jacksonville, recognized several of the Depot’s active-duty military. All of the Depot’s military members and Reservists were present for the ceremony. As Executive Officer Capt. David J. Beck read several citations, the CO congratulated all of the recipients recognized for their past and present accomplishments.

The Armed Forces Reserve Medal with “M” device was presented to Cmdr. Joseph Bartley, Lt. Paul Casey, SK1 Joel Therlonge, SK1 Douglas Barth, SK2 Louis Phillips, SK2 Latessa Roby, SK2 Oscar Vargas, YN2 Onre Houston, SK2 Charlene D’Andrade, SK2 Marvin Polk, and SK3 Wilberto Flores. This medal is awarded to members who have been mobilized for recall under Presidential Executive Order 13223 for Operations Noble Eagle and Enduring Freedom. Capt. Steve Clarke, Capt. Kirk Johansen, ETC Fujioka, and IT1 Carolyn Hodges were presented the Armed Forces Reserve Medal with “M” device as a reserve member who has been mobilized for service in support of Operations Noble Eagle and Enduring Freedom.

The Armed Forces Reserve Medal with Bronze “2” was presented to SKC Maureen Jerome for serving in two campaigns after August 1, 1990.

The Naval Reserve Meritorious Service Medal was presented to SK2 Louis Phillips in recognition of three years of faithful Naval Reserve Service.

The Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal was presented to AM1 Michael Harris for professional support in the superior performance of his duties while serving as Airframes and Troubleshooter Branch Lead Petty Officer in Strike Fighter Squadron 87 from March 1999 to December 2002. Harris reduced shop workload over 50 percent while leading the department’s most undermanned work center. His superior professionalism and loyal devotion to duty reflect credit upon himself and were in keeping with the highest traditions of the United States Naval Service.
