In recognition of their outstanding and dedicated service to the Department of the Navy, NADEP Cherry Point engineers William H. Green and Scott Nast received the prestigious Navy Meritorious Civilian Service Award from RADM Walter B. Massenburg, NAVAIR Assistant Commander for Logistics.

While serving as the AV-8B Fleet Support Team (FST) Leader during 2001, Green was instrumental in the team’s excellent performance. Massenburg cited Green’s strong leadership, business acumen, and technical knowledge as key reasons for the team’s high quality work and said they are the cornerstone on which the AV-8 Program has made many major accomplishments. Functioning as both a teacher and mentor, Green led his teammates through sound logic to arrive at safe and permanent solutions that optimally balanced logistical and engineering requirements.

Nast’s award was presented in recognition of his outstanding and exceptional performance as the Integrated Maintenance Concept Team Leader for the AH-1W and HH/UH-1N Helicopter programs. Massenburg praised Nast’s development of a radically different approach to performing scheduled depot maintenance, as well as his leadership and programmatic insight, as key factors in resolving a host of program challenges. The admiral said Nast met these challenges head-on with magnificent success and made a lasting and positive impact on the future of the H-1 Warfighter.
