Naval Air Weapons Station China Lake has announced Little Petroglyph Canyon will re-open for public tours Saturday, June 15.

The events of Sept. 11 had temporarily suspended the tours but the new policy will insure the base can maintain the needed security while providing the public a unique opportunity to experience the past.

The canyon is 1.2 miles in length with walls of rock art reaching 20 to 40 feet high. Artwork ranges from anthropomorphic figures to bighorn sheep to abstract art.

NAWS China Lake Petroglyph Tour Policy is also providing additional non-profit organizations the opportunity to partner with them in conducting tours. If your organization is interested contact the Public Affairs Office, (760) 939-1683. http://www.nawcwd.navy.mil/%7Epao/pg/Ptrglyph.htm
