NAVAIR Naval Air Weapons Station--Beginning Monday, March 24, the gate policy at the Naval Air Weapons Station China Lake will change.

Due to tighter security guidelines, all vehicles entering the Station will be required to completely stop at the gate. Gate guards will be required to physically touch the driver’s badge, allowing them a better opportunity to focus on personnel identification and to better view passenger badges.

With these procedures in mind, drivers should exercise caution, allowing for vehicles in front of them to completely stop. In addition, everyone should prepare for minor delays during peak hours at the gates.

Drivers approaching the gate should turn down radios, avoid cell phone use and have the driver’s window rolled down in preparation for the guard to touch the badge and to hear any verbal commands.

The Station’s present security posture dictates 100 percent identification checks. Everyone is asked to be courteous to security personnel, as their job is often a thankless one and they remain the Station’s first line of physical defense for visitors, personnel and property aboard NAWS China Lake.
