PATUXENT RIVER NAVAL AIR STATION, MD—Volunteers from the Naval Air Systems Command’s Logistics Division have renewed a Personal Excellence Partnership agreement with Carver Elementary School in Lexington Park, Md., ushering in another year of tutoring and mentoring support to local students.

On hand for the Nov. 25 partnership renewal ceremony was AD1(AW/SW) Sean Mack, partnership coordinator, who renewed the PEP agreement with Kashiro Aoyama, president of Carver Elementary’s Student Council, and Mark Murphy, principal at Carver.

“Every partnership we have is wonderful and has a direct impact on our kids academically, socially and emotionally,” Murphy said. “These partnerships also help us provide good role models for our students.”

Also attending the event was Erika Haggard, a Carver Elementary resource teacher, who coordinates activities between station volunteers and the school.

“The partnership between Carver and the Navy is invaluable,” Haggard said. “We look forward to a continued, strong future working together.”
