For one day, Wednesday, Oct. 15, 2003, residents of the Indian Wells Valley including Ridgecrest, Inyokern and Pearsonville will take note of a rocket motor test being conducted at the Supersonic Naval Ordnance Research Track(SNORT) facility.

The rocket motor test beginning at 1 p.m. is expected to produce a shock wave of MACH 4. This will result in excessive loud noise and vibration.

Local schools, hospital, fire and police departments are being notified to help alleviate any concerns parents, children or the elderly may have as a result of this test.

Also, if you have pets, it is advised to take proper measures to insure their safety during the test.

Thank you for your patience and cooperation. For questions or concerns, call the NAVAIR China Lake Public Affairs Office, 760-939-6047.
