Depot employees donate 355 units of blood
By Frank Taormina, NAVAIR Depot Jacksonville Public Affairs Specialist
NAVAIR Depot, Jacksonville and the Florida/Georgia Blood Alliance held their final blood drive of FY-03. On July 29 and 30 at the Depot, and July 31 at Cecil Commerce Center, 355 units of blood were collected from volunteer donors. The Florida/Georgia Blood Alliance was in particular need of O positive, O negative, and B negative blood types and the donors responded. There were some changes in this blood drive that brought good results. In the past, the Drive ran from 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. The time was extended to 6:00 p.m. in hopes of accommodating “B” shift personnel and they did not disappoint. Capt. David Beck, Commanding Officer at the Depot, and the staff of the Florida/Georgia Blood Alliance extend their sincere thanks to the donors for their participation in the blood drive.
