NAWCTSD Leaders Experience Recruit Training

Archived Body

GREAT LAKES, Ill. – A group of leaders from the Orlando, Florida-based Naval Air Warfare Center Training Systems Division (NAWCTSD) observed Navy training in action at Recruit Training Command May 31 - June 2.

Highlights of the visit included an orientation of Battle Stations 21 exercises aboard the largest military simulator, USS Trayer (BST-21), a 210-foot indoor destroyer replica, that is supported by NAWCTSD.  Battle Stations 21 is the capstone event that culminates eight weeks of boot camp training.  Every enlisted recruit must complete 17 realistic scenarios in Battle Stations 21 before they are able to graduate and earn the title of "Sailor" in U.S. Navy. The group also participated in Small Arms Marksmanship Training and experienced first-hand what it is like to be a Navy recruit.

The trip to Great Lakes gave the NAWCTSD team a unique opportunity to witness, and actually experience, some of the products and services they developed.
