In the H-53 Hangar at the Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR) Depot Cherry Point, Commanding Officer Col Eugene K. Conti gives a general overview of the depot’s helicopter maintenance program to Rep. Frank W. Ballance Jr., who represents North Carolina’s 1st District in Washington, D.C. The congressman, who is looking into the issue of unemployment in his district, was in the area recently to visit the depot and BSH Home Appliances Corp. in New Bern. He wanted to see what Craven County is doing right to keep its people in jobs and felt that the depot, as the largest employer in the state east of I-95, was a good place to look for inspiration.
