The Deputy Commander for Acquisition and Operations (AIR-1.0) is hosting a training session on the recent changes made to the defense acquisition system DoD 5000 series documents at the Naval Air Station Patuxent River movie theater on Tuesday, June 24 from 8:30 to 11 a.m.

On May 12, Paul Wolfowitz, deputy secretary of defense, signed into effect a new directive and instruction on the operation of the Department of Defense acquisition system. DOD Instruction 5000.2 establishes a simplified and flexible management framework for translating mission needs based on approved requirements into well-managed acquisition programs.

During the training session, representatives from the Defense Acquisition University will present and explain the changes to the acquisition process brought about by these new documents. This one-time training is open to any employee at NAVAIR Patuxent River working in the acquisition community. A videotape of the session will be available to those who cannot attend.
