Depot receives aviation safety award

In the Flight Check office at the Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR) Depot Cherry Point May 12, NAVAIR Assistant Commander for Industrial Operations RADM Walter B. Massenburg presents a plaque for the CY 2002 NAVAIR Aviation Safety Award for Most Outstanding Naval Air Depot to the depot’s youngest Marine, LCpl John F. Anderson. The depot received the award in recognition of achieving a mishap free year and its overall strong, proactive aviation safety program. The ceremony was attended by Executive Officer Col John Gumbel and many of the command’s military personnel, and Anderson was chosen to accept the plaque from the admiral on behalf of the depot.
