Air Expo ’03 brings additional aircraft

PATUXENT RIVER NAVAL AIR STATION, MD—Capt. Dane Swanson, Naval Air Station Patuxent River commanding officer, invites the community to attend Air Expo ’03 May 24 and 25. The Navy’s Flight Demonstration Squadron, the Blue Angels, headline both days of the show.

Also performing both days of Air Expo ’03 are the Air Force Viper East F-16 Demonstration Team, Patty Wagstaff in her Goodrich Extra 300S, Dale Snodgrass in his F-86 Sabre and Mike Mancuso in his Klein Tools Extra 300L.

With the number of aircraft entering and exiting the local airfield, Swanson reminds the community near and around the station that they may experience more aircraft noise than usual from May 22 to 25.

While no noticeable increase in the noise level is anticipated during the evening and early morning hours, increased noise intervals will occur during afternoon hours, the peak periods being May 24 and 25.

Parking and admission for Air Expo ’03 are free. Gates open at 9 a.m. The flying portion of the show begins at 11 a.m. and will run until approximately 4 p.m.

No weapons or explosives, coolers, alcoholic beverages, glass containers, pets, bicycles, roller blades, skateboards, scooters or backpacks are permitted on the show site. Vehicles, diaper bags, camera bags and cameras will be searched. Please do not load film into cameras before entering the show site.

Those who have Department of Defense identification cards and DoD automobile decals, or DoD identification cards only, enter the air station through Gate 1. All others may enter the air station through Gate 2.
