The Naval Air Systems Command now has a comprehensive package of information detailing the command’s operating concept, and products and services available for its teammates to use when communicating with fleet customers.

This overview describing the NAVAIR mission is primarily targeted toward the mid-grade ranks of officer and enlisted personnel in the fleet. It was designed for use during fleet visits to enhance communications between the command and its primary customer.

“Our customers are the folks out there on the ships or at remote sites employing the tools that we are providing them,” said Lt. Scott Galow, of the NAVAIR Fleet Support Department and the Fleet Readiness Action Group (FRAG).

The NAVAIR Warfighter Focus Group and the FRAG joined forces to create a brief that program executive officers and program managers may use as a guideline when speaking to the fleet or other customers. The need for a universal command brief was identified in April, and by June the two groups had produced a 40-page brief that can be modified depending on operating location, audience and mission.

“Every now and then we need to remind our fleet customers what NAVAIR is all about and that we are working for them,” Galow said. “By having this brief at our disposal, we can present a single image of the command throughout the world.”

Before, NAVAIR leaders had to work independently to pull together their own briefs from scratch. This means there were many versions of the command’s mission and message being circulated.

“Now, we have a consistent starting point for everyone which we can help personalize depending on a particular need,” Galow said.

Top-level metrics, as reported by the squadrons, can also be included in a brief and tailored to a specific group. The FRAG is working toward incorporating real-time data into the brief from Naval Aviation Logistics Command/Management Information System Optimized, an electronic supply and maintenance reporting program.

“It’s all about telling the fleet that ‘we’re your systems command and we are here to help,’” Galow said.

Galow is available to help anyone in NAVAIR who has plans to speak about the command and its mission. For a copy of the NAVAIR brief or to get help preparing a customized brief, call Galow at 301-757-2645 or [email protected]. Prospective briefers are encouraged to contact Galow early in the process, allowing about seven to 10 days for a quality presentation.
