The Naval Air Systems Command International Programs Department (AIR 1.4), headed by Capt. Michael J. Dougherty, has rescheduled the International Programs symposium for Nov. 14. The symposium will be held at the Holiday Inn Select in Solomons from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and will feature prominent speakers and interactive panel-type discussions on a wide range of topics. The symposium was originally planned for Sept. 12 and was postponed after the terrorist attacks.

The symposium is intended for the naval aviation international programs community, including civil service, military and industry personnel. The objective is to educate the international programs community and foster professional networking through the exchange of ideas and concepts. Government employees attending will receive training credit.

The featured symposium luncheon speaker is Richard Millies, deputy director of the Defense Security Cooperation Agency. He will address foreign military sales (FMS) reinvention initiatives. In addition, subjects covered during the course of the day will include letter of offer and acceptance process, hybrid FMS/direct commercial sales cases, and foreign disclosure policy.

This is the second symposium Booz Allen Hamilton has planned to help Dougherty keep the naval aviation international programs community informed with evolving post cold war military assistance requirements and provide a complementary role with the domestic acquisition community as the revolutions in military and business affairs continue.

Personnel who registered and were confirmed by the Education, Development and Training Division for the original program in September are automatically registered for the Nov. 14 program.

Civil service and military personnel that would like attend this event and that did not register for the September program must submit training nominations through the use of the initial training request form, NDW-NAWCAD12410/28. The course code is 498882. Nominations should be submitted to Kim Earnshaw, program coordinator in the Education, Development and Training Division located at the Employee Development Center in Building 2189.

Industry personnel who did not register for the September program and are interested in attending this event must fax a letter of request to the program coordinator at 301-342-4523. Once the industry nominee receives a notification of seat availability, confirmation of acceptance will be guaranteed upon receipt of a check by Nov. 5, made payable to Booz Allen Hamilton in the amount of $200. The check must be sent directly to Earnshaw at the Employee Development Center in Building 2189.
