PATUXENT RIVER NAVAL AIR STATION, MD-The Navy Medical Clinic Patuxent River has a new Web site that offers an electronic-health portal for Navy and Marine Corps members detailing up-to-date health information and time-saving services.

The Web site, located at http://pax10.med.navy.mil, offers features such as online prescription refills and status updates along with a wide range of services to eliminate extra trips to the pharmacy or phone waiting times for the Patuxent River community.

"The Web site is one way to achieve our strategic goal of offering superior customer service," Capt. F. H. Jenkins, Naval Medical Clinic Patuxent River commanding officer, said. "We hope the Web site becomes the opening portal for health information for our great active duty, dependent and retired beneficiaries in southern Maryland."

On the main page of the site, patients can find a pie chart that shows the number of appointments open for each primary clinic for that day. An events section shows information on upcoming Preventive Medicine seminars. From the site, patients may also download TRICARE and medical request forms that may be filled out before visits to the clinic.

The site content is focused as a reference for medical information, healthcare questions and frequently asked questions regarding billing. For those that are technically savvy, there's a scaled-down Palm edition containing a clinic directory and station information that can be downloaded to a handheld personal digital assistant.

Planned future upgrades to the site include electronic requesting of medical records, Web appointing and health promotion event registration. Patient feedback is always welcome.
