Stevens Institute of Technology names NAVAIR Lakehurst co-op employer of the year
JOINT BASE MCGUIRE-DIX-LAKEHURST, N.J. — NAVAIR Lakehurst was named Stevens Institute of Technology’s co-op employer of the year at the university’s recent 28th annual employer recognition luncheon at Stevens’ Wesley J. Howe Center in Hoboken, NJ.
“It’s good to be recognized for all of our efforts and the hard work that our team put into the co-op program and the mentoring and guidance of Stevens’ students,” said Michele Huk, Workforce Development Team lead for NAVAIR Lakehurst, who, along with Mike Eddowes, Workforce Development Team member, accepted the Co-op Employer of the Year Award for NAVAIR.
The award came two-and-a-half weeks after NAVAIR and Stevens signed an Educational Partnership Agreement (EPA). Such agreements provide Stevens’ students with access to partnership companies so that the students may learn more about the types of work performed and “work on real engineering challenges,” explained Huk.
For NAVAIR, the EPA with Stevens provides “access to the students” and “builds a pipeline of candidates interested in our [NAVAIR’s] work,” said Huk.
NAVAIR competed against 250 employers within Stevens’ cooperative education program to win the award, which recognizes excellence in providing cooperative opportunities to Stevens students.
