NEWARK, N.J. — NAVAIR was honored as a recruitment partner during the New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) Career Development Services (CDS) Recruitment Partner Awards Celebration on April 17 in the NJIT Campus Center in Newark, N.J.

NAVAIR’s Michele Huk, Director of Operations for the Support Equipment and Aircraft Launch and Recovery Equipment Department at NAVAIR’s Lakehurst site, attended the event and accepted a certificate recognizing NAVAIR as an NJIT recruitment partner for 2013.

“We are proud and honored to be considered a recruiting partner,” said Huk during an interview following the event. Huk is also the team lead for NAVAIR Lakehurst’s Workforce Development Team.

NAVAIR has been an NJIT recruitment partner since 2006 and attends NJIT’s engineering career fairs twice a year, posts job announcements to NJIT’s online job listing system and takes part in on-campus interviewing at NJIT, said Huk.

She added that NAVAIR is building upon its relationship with NJIT by looking into becoming involved with mentoring opportunities, interviewing workshops and NJIT’s co-op program.

Hosted in the Campus Center’s atrium, the afternoon event recognized NAVAIR as well as NJIT’s many Recruitment Partner Program companies including AT&T, Johnson & Johnson and Verizon. According to the NJIT website, “NJIT Recruitment Partner companies are the most active recruiting and employing organizations of NJIT students and graduates.”

During the event, awards were given out and representatives from Johnson & Johnson, ADP and Enterprise Rent-A-Car each presented recruitment best practices and spoke about their organization’s partnership with NJIT.

Following the awards and presentations, the organizations had an opportunity to network with one another, NJIT faculty and staff and NJIT student leaders.

In addition to NJIT, NAVAIR Lakehurst’s Workforce Development Team actively recruits at Stevens Institute of Technology, Drexel University, Rutgers University, Rowan University, Lehigh University, Villanova University, Penn State, University of Delaware, The College of New Jersey and the New York University Polytechnic School of Engineering.
