FRCSW delivers F/A-18D under costs and ahead of schedule
Lt. Cmdr. Timothy "Straw" Tuschinski and Lt. Julia "CAM" Foerster deliver an F/A-18D to Marine Fighter Attack Training Squadron (VMFAT) 101 at Marine Corps Air Station Miramar, San Diego, Calif., June 26 after the aircraft underwent maintenance at Fleet Readiness Center Southwest in North Island, Calif.
The aircraft completed Planned Maintenance Interval-1 (PMI-1) maintenance cycle, a set of pre-planned maintenance events for Navy and Marine Corps aircraft designed to ensure the safety of the aircraft.
The maintenance cycle was completed 700 man hours ahead of schedule with a cost savings of more than $175,000 to the U.S. taxpayer.
