CHINA LAKE, Calif. – One hundred years ago, the Navy declared the birth of naval aviation after brave Americans, driven by enthusiasm and innovation, moved aviation from a tool shed to a ship, launching from a totally new environment. Naval aviation continued to progress and played a significant role in the protection of our country since that time. These same attributes continue in 2011 and will carry into the future of naval aviation. In celebration of the Centennial of Naval Aviation (CoNA), a ten-foot banner has been placed at the main gates entrances of Naval Air Systems Command facilities at China Lake and Point Mugu.
