ORLANDO, Fla. - Florida Governor Rick Scott visited Naval Support Activity Orlando to learn more about the military's modeling and simulation industry, August 12, 2011.

During his visit Naval Air Warfare Center Training Systems Division Orlando Commanding Officer, Capt. Bill Reuter described the accomplishments made possible by the partnership of the members of "Team Orlando." Team Orlando is a collaboration of each of the military services training and simulation commands, state, academic and industry organizations focused on modeling & simulation, human performance, and training in one of the nation's largest Modeling and Simulation industry clusters.

Following Reuter's introductory remarks, Scott participated in a brief round-table discussion with Team Orlando leaders about the role they have in supporting warfighters. The group focused on the positive economic impact Team Orlando has on area employment. They also discussed the benefits of the collaboration between the Department of Defense and local academia, especially the University of Central Florida.

The governor said he was impressed with the work Team Orlando does adding that the military represents about 10 percent of Florida's economy.

Scott stopped in Orlando one day after a Meeting in Key West with Commanding Officers from each of Florida's military bases.
