Increasing readiness and speed to fleet at FRCWP
OKINAWA, Japan -- Fleet Readiness Center Western Pacific (FRCWP) recently sponsored cadmium (CAD) plating training for Marines from Marine Aviation Logistics Squadron-36 (MALS-36), NIPPI Corporation and its artisans on Okinawa to provide the Marines quicker responses to In-Service Repairs (ISR).
Aaron Raines, Fleet Readiness Center Southwest (FRCSW), provided the instruction for the training that will allow MALS-36 to perform required CAD plating on UH-1Y components. FRCWP has an ISR contract with NIPPI and can now use NIPPI to perform this work when MALS-36 and FRCWP artisans are unavailable.
Previously, all CAD plating had to be submitted as an ISR request. Since FRCWP artisans regularly deploy and may not be locally available to respond to an ISR request, establishing this capability within MALS-36 enhances H-1 readiness.
Six NIPPI personnel and four MALS-36 Air Frames Marines also received training for the welding and repair of V-22 center bodies that will increase readiness and speed to fleet by eliminating the need to ship the center bodies to and from the United States. The instruction was conducted by Mark Sapp and Stephen Golden, Fleet Readiness Center FRC East (FRCE) V-22 engineers.
