Second Alignment Assessment Coming to NAVAIR This Summer

This summer NAVAIR employees will have another opportunity to show how well they understand and support new initiatives within the organization and the broader Naval Aviation Enterprise.
A second Alignment Assessment is planned for release in mid-May. It follows the initial assessment from Fall, 2004, where a benchmark was established upon which to measure NAVAIR’s organizational effectiveness. More than 16,000 NAVAIR military and civilian personnel from all sites participated in that survey.
The last assessment provided a good baseline for new command initiatives and showed what is working well or needs improvement in each competency, PEO and Business Unit.
The survey objectives were to improve the command’s effectiveness by identifying and acting on opportunities to improve alignment around command goals and new initiatives. Statements about initiatives such as Total Force Readiness (formerly Human Capital Strategy) and AIRSpeed will be asked again, as will new statements meant to measure employees’ understanding of the NAE..
Results from this summer’s assessment will give the organization a much better read on how much progress has been made in developing employee comprehension of those initiatives.
Based on the results of the first survey, leaders in each competency, PEO and Business Unit implemented action plans, including educating employees on national initiatives and their connection to Navy transformation.
NAVAIR leadership was also able to gain some insight into the hearts and minds of the workforce through the narrative section of the assessment. According to the assessment team, those submitted statements were very perceptive, insightful and innovative in nature.
